From the hit 60's T.V. Show, Petticoat Junction, Uncle Joe discovers the talent in the girls who become "The Ladybugs," female knockoffs of the Beatles who sang their songs and wore mop top wigs.
The Ladybugs might be the first fictional Beatles band, and if so, they indeed received some major exposure and cross-promotion for their television show. The actress appeared in character on the Ed Sullivan Show two days before the episode appeared. Not so coincidentally, the Beatles actually played the Sullivan show six weeks previously.
