Sometimes known as Jimmy Daley and the Ding-A-Lings, we have a band in 1956 embracing the rock and roll sound but facing what every young band does in the '50s, finding respect from their parents. The group competed on the Johnny Grant Show on KTLA (that channel actually exists) though they just made it in time…to lose to their rival the Heartbeats. Bonus points here as the band consists of John Saxon.
