Portrayed by English singing sensation, Cliff Richard, Bongo Herbert, was originally named Bert Rudge, a beatnik bongo drummer who was discovered in an espresso coffee shop. While he was given a chance at the big time, it was by way of a sleazy character who exploits the naïve young man who initially signed a 50/50 deal with his new manager.

This may be a goofy premise, but Richard is a talent, and he delivers musically in this film.
