We get a lot of fictional baseball players that have interesting backstories but with Hopper Gibson we don’t see much baseball action or even interaction with his teammates. Rather, this is a tale of a player who needs to overcome his own mental hangups (he has become wild on the mound) and is sent to a sports psychologist to help him deal with the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father. This may be a baseball film in name only.
