Regular visitors of notinhalloffame.com know that we are slowly working on the top 50 of every major team in the NHL, NBA, NFL, and MLB. Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. We will eventually extend that to the major universities, and thus it is important to us that Virginia Tech has announced that seven new members will be inducted into their franchise Hall of Fame on October 3 and will be recognized the day before during the Hokies’ home game against Pittsburgh.

Jerry Cheynet: Men’s and Women’s Soccer, Wrestling, Men’s Golf and the Facility Department.  1974-2025.  Cheynet coached four different teams, most notably with the Men’s Soccer team, where he was their Head Coach from 1974 to 2001, and the Men’s Wrestling Team from 1974 to 1996.  He won Conference Coach of the Year honors in both disciplines.  He worked in the Facilities Department from 2003 to 2025 after his coaching career ended.

Chris Martin: Men’s Wrestling, 1996-2001.  Martin had an overall 126-25 record and was the third wrestler in program history to become an All-American.  Martin finished fourth in 2000 at the NCAA Championship at 165 pounds.

Kylie McGoldrick: Softball, 2012-15.  Playing at Second Base, McGoldrick played in 230 games while batting .318 with 30 Home Runs and 128 RBIs.  She was a three-time All-ACC and three-time All-ACC Tournament Selection.

Yavgeniy Olhovsky: Men’s Track & Field, 2007-10.  Olhovsky won Silver in the 2008 NCAA Outdoor and 2009 Indoor meets and was a three-time ACC Champion in the Pole Vault. 

Martina Schultze: Women’s Track & Field, 2012-14.  Schultze was a five-time ACC Champion in the Pole Vault and was a six-time All-American.  On the NCAA stage, Schultze’s best finish was third in the 2014 Outdoor Championships.

Logan Thomas: Football, 2009-13.  Thomas threw for 9,003 Yards and 52 Touchdowns for Virginia Tech, while rushing for 1,359 Yards and 24 TDs; in 2011, he led the Hokies to an ACC Championship and Sugar Bowl appearance.  He would play eight years in the NFL and convert to Tight End, with appearances for Arizona, Buffalo, Detroit, and Washington.

Murielle Tiernan: Women’s Soccer, 2013-16.  In all three of her seasons in Blacksburg, Tiernan took Virginia Tech to the NCAA Tournament.  She remains the program’s all-time leader in Goals (49), Game-Winning Goals (23), and Points (112).

Once that is done, we will examine how each team honors its past players, coaches, and executives. As such, it is important to us that Virginia Tech has announced its 2025 Hall of Fame class.

The Class of 2025, comprising seven names, will be inducted on September 19. The class will be honored during the Hokies' home game against Wofford the following day.

The new inductees are:

Kaylea Arnett, Women’s Diving, 2011-15.  Arnett was a three-time All-American who won six ACC Gold Medals and a Synchronized Gold Medal at the 2013 National Championships.

Kevin Barker, Baseball, 1994-96.  Playing in the Outfield, Barker was the 1996 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year.  He led his school in Runs, Home Runs, and RBIs in his final year in Blacksburg.

Devin Carter, Wrestling, 2011-15.  Carter was a three-time All-American and the first four-time ACC Champion in program history.  His high-water mark was finishing second in the 141-pound weight class in 2014.

Kendall Fuller, Football, 2013-15.  A Second Team All-American in 2014, Fuller was the 2013 ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year and had 119 Tackles, eight Interceptions, and 27 pass-breakups with the Hokies.  He later won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Erick Green, Men’s Basketball, 2009-13.  In 2013, Green became Virginia Tech’s first ACC Player of the Year in a season where he led the nation in Points per Game (25).  He holds the Hokies' single-season Points record with 801.

Courtney Liddle Barbour, Softball, 2009-12.  A three-time All-ACC Selection, Barbour holds the school record for Walks (146), Home Runs by a Freshman (11), and is second in OBP (.467).

Scott Vincent, Men’s Golf, 2011-15.  A First Team All-American in 2014, Vincent had a school-high scoring average of 71.65.  He had four NCAA wins and 22 top-ten finishes, helping the Hokies reach the NCAA Championships twice.
