Brassed Off was not expected to be a hit, but it proved to be very successful and profitable in England. The film struck a chord (no pun intended) with the British working class, as the plot took place in a depressed town whose mine was facing a shut down. Musically, the key members of the film played in a Brass Band, which was prominently featured. Now does a British Brass Band belong into a Rock Hall?
