Once again the NIHOF committee found itself debating the merits of a group with no real hit and a limited discography. Regardless, the Flying Burrito Brothers helped to set the groundwork for the Country Rock movement proving that the combination could be successful and paved the way for other artists to come.

53. XTC

It seems that every musical genre has a representative that is dubbed the “thinking man’s” band. Some have bestowed that label for the Post Punk/New Wave set to XTC. In retrospect, that may be an accurate description for this English group.

If you take one look at the Siouxsie & the Banshees the quick reaction is to view them as a Goth Band. Looks are certainly deceiving in this case, and though that does describe their look and a component of their music that is hardly all that they were.

421. Suicide

Often when we look at music that was recorded thirty years ago, it feels that it was recorded thirty years ago. It doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate it, but it may give it some feeling that we are listening to music with a dated quality. With the music of Suicide, those who may be hearing it for the first time may have a hard time believing that it was done thirty years ago, or understand where a lot of today’s music came from.
