Another Reggae superstar from Jamaica, Lee “Scratch” Perry has been considered one of the more eccentric figures of the genre. The main contribution of Perry was that of the perpetuation of “Dub”, which was at its roots was a basic remixing of existing songs. Whether he created the genre (some say it was King Tubby) is still somewhat in doubt, but Perry did push its boundaries more than anyone else and his contributions to the world of Reggae is certainly abundant.

262. The Bangles

As the only real band of note to emerge from the 80’s Paisley Underground scene, The Bangles reached huge Pop success by the decade’s end. Most people remember them from their monster smash; Walk Like an Egyptian, but they had more Psychedelic infused Pop hits and were a much more complete band than they were perceived. A Hall induction is an outside possibility, but we have our suspicions that the first ultra successful all girl band, the Go-Go’s would have to get in first before the Bangles are looked at.

541. Mountain

Mountain has to be considered one of those bands whose lack of commercial success has to be considered a mystery. Filling a void of American Blues Based Hard Rock, Mountain had an aggressive sound and with stellar live performances to back it up, they probably should have been a much more successful band. They broke up only a few years after they started, but it isn’t impossible that the Hall would induct them based on Mississippi Queen and love for Leslie West. The Hall has inducted artists for a lot less than that!

325. Marianne Faithfull

Probably best known for her relationship with Mick Jagger and her severe drug addiction, Marianne Faithfull eventually emerged from the large shadow of the Rolling Stones to create music that showed she was nobody’s puppet. Ironically it was with her drug abused vocal chords that she actually found her “voice” and subsequently emerged as a true Rock and Roll poet. Certainly one who lived the Rock and Roll lifestyle, Faithfull has gone through heaven, hell and back again, and a trip to Cleveland would be a bit of both.
