Above & Beyond

Above & Beyond have been very successful in the genre Trance, so much so that they could be classified as one of the top five Trance bands in the 2000’s and 2010’s.  The question to be asked is this a genre that the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will ever embrace, but if they don’t this is a group that has garnered a strong following in weekly shows and sold out many venues in their native England.

48. Stu Barnes

Stu Barnes was a Florida Panther for three seasons and change, most notably for his 16-point playoff run in 1996.  Barnes was known as one of the leaders of the locker room, and it is not inconceivable to state that Florida would not have done as well as that season without him.
A surefire first ballot Hall of Famer, we thought that when Jaromir Jagr was traded from New Jersey during the 2014-15 season, that this would be where he finished his NHL career.  That would not be the case, but the ageless one proved in Florida that he still had a lot of hockey despite being in his 40s.

Jagr remained a healthy offensive contributor to the team and could still rise in this rank.  He would win the Bill Masterton Trophy in the 2015-16 Season, his first full year as a Panther, where he scored 66 Points and was seventh in Hart voting.  Jagr had another good year with the Panthers (46 Points) and would play one more year in the NHL with Calgary.  With the Panthers, Jagr had 130 Points in 181 Games.
From Finland, Aleksander Barkov had lofty expectations coming in as the number two overall pick in 2013.  It is safe to say that the Panthers obtained a player who came as advertised.

Barkov saw ample playing time as a rookie, but Florida made sure to ease the Center into action.  He had a breakout of sorts in his third year, scoring 59 Points with strong two-way play.  After another 50-Point-plus year,   Barkov increased his production to 78 Points, and then to 96 in 2018-19.  Barkov, who also had impressed people with his clean style of play, won the Lady Byng Trophy.

Barkov built on that success with a Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2020-21 and a playoff appearance.  He would take them to the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals in 2022-23.  As it turned out, that was just the beginning for the first Finnish player to be a Captain of an NHL team.   Barkov continued his exemplary two-way play, and in 2023-24, he would lead the Panthers to their first Stanley Cup Championship, winning his second Selke Award.  It was a spectacular season, but he had a lot more left to give to the team.

Last year, Barkov fought through injuries to win his third Selke and was awarded the King Clancy Award for his perseverance and grit.  More importantly, Barkov and the Panthers won their second Stanley Cup, cementing not just the Panthers of the 2020s but also Barkov as legendary.

Barkov tore his ACL going into the 2025-26 season, but we believe he is already the best Florida Panther of all time.
