Shawn Marion to retire

Cleveland Cavalier Forward, Shawn Marion has announced that this will be his final season in the NBA. The 36 year old currently has a 8.9 Point per Game Average, the lowest of his career, though still respectable, is seeking his second NBA Championship.

“The Matrix” began his career with the Phoenix Suns where he would become part of a very competitive team and twice eclipse the 20 Points per Game mark and four times make the All Star Game. He was also a ferocious rebounder and would hit the double digit average five times in that category. In 2004/05 and 2005/06, Marion would be named a Third Team All Star, and as a Sun had five seasons with a PER over 20.

Although Marion would go into decline in his later years with the Dallas Mavericks, but as more of a role player, he was a major contributor to the Mavs lone NBA title in 2011.

Asking the question that we always ask here, “Is Shawn Marion a Hall of Famer”, we are initially leaning towards no, but recognized that he will have a healthy rank once eligible.

Either way, we think he will merit some serious Hall of Fame discussion, and we are looking forward to hearing the thoughts about his career.

The 40 Semi-Finalists are up and you can vote for your favorite ten here. The top ten receiving votes will advance to the Finals.

Those 40 will be on the ballot until May 1, 2015 when the top 10 Finalists will be announced with the intent of announcing the first Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class on October 1, 2015.

As always we encourage you to vote on these Semi-Finalists and help us decide who will be the first group of Finalists for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Pete Rose discusses Bonds and Clemens

Pete Rose is never one to shy away from letting people know what he thinks. In a television interview with Reuters today, the Hit King was asked if he thought if the Steroids players should get into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rose wasn’t on the fence with his answer at all.

“Would I vote for Roger Clemens? You're damn right I would. Would I vote for Barry Bonds? You're damn right I would. These guys are seven-time MVPs, seven-time Cy Young Award winner."

When asked about his own Hall of Fame case Rose continued to be contrite as he has been in many other interviews blaming himself for his exclusion from the game though hopeful that the new commissioner, Rob Manfred, will give him a second chance and that hopefully with the All Star Game being in Cincinnati, he will be able to be a part of it in some capacity.

Frankly, we hope so too!

1986 Hockey HOF Class is up

We have been working diligently to add our Hall of Fame futures over the last few months, and we have made great strides in that, as many new sections opened up in 2014.

Saying all of that, we here at Notinhalloffame.com need to make sure that we are actually mentioning those who are already in their respective Halls of Fame and that are what we are doing here, with the additions of existing Hockey Hall of Fame Classes, and in the future we will be adding existing Baseball, Football and Basketball classes, and will do so with a historical perspective.

With that, we are pleased to announce that the 1986 Hockey Hall of Fame Class is up and you can vote on whether this group belongs in the Hall.

The Players/Builders are:

Bill Hanley, a longtime administrator in the Ontario Hockey Association.

Dave Keon, who four times won the Stanley Cup with the Toronto Maple Leafs, twice would win the Lady Byng and once the Conn Smythe.

Leo Boivin, a stay-at-home Defenceman, known for his work with the Boston Bruins.

Serge Savard, who would win the Stanley Cup nine times with the Montreal Canadians and was part of the “Big Three” of Montreal’s Defensive corps.

Please feel free to give your opinion as to whether these players should be in the Hockey Hall of Fame and look for more classes to come!
