The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Evening

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will always be controversial. Hell, this was the impetus for creating Notinhalloffame.com! While that may all be true, this was the evening where the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame officially inducted their latest class and whether you agree with the inductees or not, it is always a signature event and a big night for us.
While we felt that Deep Purple were the unequivocal headliners, they were actually the first inductees. Inducted by Metallica drummer, Lars Ulrich, Deep Purple played a three song set of Hush, Highway Star and of course, Smoke on the Water. While it was a great performance, it could not help but feel it was a little hollow without Ritchie Blackmore present.
Steve Miller was inducted next and performed Fly Like an Eagle and Rock N Me and during his induction mentioned how the song, “The Joker” saved his career.
Kendrick Lamar then came on stage to induct N.W.A., and asked for permission to curse during his speech. Referencing Eazy E. as the founder of “Reality Rap”, the four surviving members of N.W.A. took to the stage with Ice Cube proclaiming that they were Rock and Roll and how it was a “spirit”. That might be the most poignant moment of the night. Sadly, they did not perform, but they did deliver the best induction speech of the evening.
Chicago were up next and though they were without Peter Cetera, they delighted the crowd in hand with a stirring rendition of Saturday in the Park. It is worth noting that this was the group who the fans voted for the most on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame poll.
Cheap Trick was the final inductee, and while they are not necessarily the most important inductees, but it was their live performances overseas that would eventually make them stars in the United States. A Cheap Trick set to close the show? Why not!

Shaq headlines this years Basketball HOF Class!

As is tradition, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame has announced this year’s class hours before the NCAA Championship Game.
As previously reported, Yao Ming is in and there is no surprise that he will joined by two major former stars.
Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson, who hold the numbers one and two spots respectively on our Notinhalloffame.com Basketball List got in on their first try.
Shaq is a former four time NBA Champion, a former MVP, two time scoring champion and a fifteen time All Star. O’Neal is without question the most dominant center of his day and one of the top Centers ever.
Iverson, who while he was not a former NBA Champion is also a former NBA MVP and won four scoring titles and went to 11 All Star Games. In terms of excitement on the court, Iverson had few peers.
While O’Neal, Iverson and Ming are easily the top draws there are still big names who have been selected for this year.
Current Michigan State Head Coach, Tom Izzo enters Springfield and is a former NCAA Champion Coach. His current record is 524 and 205.
This years female inductee is Sheryl Swoopes, a four time WNBA Champion and three time WNBA MVP.
The remaining inductees this year are former three time ABA All Star, and two time NBA All Star, Zelmo Beaty, Chicago Bulls owner, Jerry Reinsdorf, official, Darrell Garretson, African-American Pioneer, Cumberland Posey and the late African-American Coach, John McLendon.
We will be working on our new Basketball list and it should be unveiled next month.
We would like to congratulate this year’s class and as always we love this time of the year!

What the WWE Legacy Wing means to us

The Legacy Hall of Fame.
Seriously, this changes everything for us in regards to our WWE Hall of Fame list, especially when it comes to our revised rankings, which we will unveil next month.
As announced during the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony, a Legacy Wing has been created which officially inducted former wrestlers such as Lou Thesz, “Sailor” Art Thomas, Frank Gotch, Mildred Burker, Ed “Strangler” Lewis, Pat O’Connor and George Hackenschmidt.
We have not ranked any wrestler whose career was in its prime prior to 1950 for two specific reasons:
1: The WWE (or then WWWF) did not exist until 1961.
2: Those competitors had little if any association to the WWE product.
Now that the WWE has gone this route, this means clearly that with our revised ranking you will see many new entries that will predate most of you who visit our website.
Either way, you know we will have fun doing it!

It has been reported by multiple sources that Yao Ming will be inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
The greatest star in the history of Chinese Basketball, Ming began his career in the Chinese league and was the first pick in the 2002 NBA Draft. Ming was an eight time All Star who averaged 19 Points and 9.2 Rebounds per year. Ming retired in 2011 following a series of injuries his feet and ankles.
Ming, who was ranked #3 by us at Notinhalloffame.com, will be the International representative and is almost single handedly responsible for elevating the game in China.
We here at Notinhalloffame.com would like to congratulate Yao Ming and will be watching intensely to see who will join him.
