“Happy” Jack Stivetts made his big league debut back in 1889 for the American Association's St. Louis Browns.  It was an exciting rookie year, as he only had a 12-7 record, but he led that league in ERA (2.25), ERA+ *186), FIP (2.93), WHIP (1.153), and SO/BB (2.10).  

Guy Harris “Doc” White was not a superstar but was a player that teams would covert for his dependable and durable production.

Before the St. Louis Cardinals were named the Cardinals, they were the first known version of the Browns, and one of their best Pitchers in the mid-1890s was Theodore Breitenstein.
