Dishwalla

Essentially a one hit wonder, Dishwalla had a few albums in the late 90’s and early 00’s that sold moderately well. Music wise they a soulful Post Grunge sound that to some may have strayed a little far towards Adult Contemporary, but that did allow them to reach an audience that may not have been made available to them normally. Realistically, they only had one hit, although it is curious why they did not have at least a couple more.

Carbon Leaf

A Celtic infused Adult Alternative group, Carbon Leaf may very well be one of the most technically proficient bands that you never heard of. They have recently managed to gather more attention, but they have a long way to go to even be remotely considered for any kind Hall of Fame, let alone the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

478. Frank Black

Frank Black is worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Pixies, and while they are not yet (as of this writing anyway) in the Hall, there is an excellent shot.  As for the solo career of Frank Black, it may have yielded equal acclaim as his former band but commercially and influentially speaking it did not.  Still, we can’t help but find a spot for him on this list.

497. Elastica

The run of Elastica was brief, but they had a very fruitful run on both sides of the Atlantic. BritPop opened the door for Elastica, although their catchy rhythms echoed the New Wave movement more than the other BritPop acts they were lumped in with.  Although they made it in both England in the United States, they were not able to replicate their success, though they never really seemed to try.
