159. Ten Years After

It is virtually impossible to claim that the Woodstock concert was not the most important concert in the history of Rock and Roll. Many of those iconic artists have found their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, yet despite the acclaimed (yet somewhat forgotten) set that Ten Years After put on, they seem far away from the Hall and are often not associated with the concert itself.

264. Stray Cats

Is there a generation that doesn’t look at some sort of reverence to the ones before? Music is no different, as there is a constant form of retro cool that keeps reoccurring in various forms. We have wondered if nobody understood this better than the Stray Cats, the band who ushered in the Rockabilly revival in the early 1980’s.

445. Billy Bragg

Generally the fusion of Folk and Punk wouldn’t seem to work, but in the early 1980’s an Englishman named Billy Bragg was able to pull off this unique hybrid.

Normally a novelty band wouldn’t get consideration from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs were not your traditional group. In fact, they may have been the greatest Garage band ever.
