With Rap beginning to enter the Hall, a question will soon be asked the same of traditional Rock bands as to whether solid and consistent acts can get in without having a period of dominance.  Juvenile falls into the former as he has had a wide amount of successful albums in the Gangsta Rap genre, he did not exactly break new ground.  Gangsta Rap may find a place in the Hall, but it will have to come from an artist with more profile (and dare we say skill) than Juvenile.

How is it possible for a white teenager from North Dakota become a Blues Guitar prodigy?  Regardless of the bizarre demographic, Jonny Lang became such a prodigy and was considered a Blues guitar wizard while still in his early teens.  The most accomplished Blues men regardless of generation praise him and his name remains synonymous with quality Blues.  Having said that, there are many Blues great of the past who should get in before Lang, regardless of how productive the next ten years are for the prodigy.

Jewel’s debut album caught the world by storm.  It was a sweet sounding, heartbreaking collection of songs that appealed to everyone from Folk, Adult Alternative, Pop and Mainstream.  Jewel never had an album that did as well, but she carved a very successful career for herself which she continues to enjoy today.  Should that debut album reach another level in the public consciousness, Jewel’s chances for induction will rise with it.

With all due respect to Rock purists, there really is little doubt that at present Jay-Z is the top contender of the 2020 list of Hall of Fame candidates.  The man with many monikers has been one of the most dominate Rap artists of the past ten years and he is beloved by critics, the mainstream, and the streets.
