Merrifield finally made the roster in 2016 and once he got there, he would win the Second Baseman’s job. Merrifield became a nice surprise in that in 2017 he led the American League in Stolen Bases (34), and he did so again in 2018 (45). 2018 also saw Merrifield finish first in Hits (192) with a .304 Batting Average. Merrifield had even more hits in 2019 (206), and he again led the AL in that category, and he also captured the Triples lead (10).
Merrifield went to the All-Star Game in 2021, and was the American League leader in Doubles (42) and Stolen Bases (40), which would be his last full year in KC. The Royals traded Merrifield during the 2022 Season to the contending Blue Jays, laeving Merrifield with a total of 1,001 Hits, a .286 Batting Average and 174 Stolen Bases.
