The lefthander debuted for the Tribe in 2001, making the starting rotation with a 17-5 record and finishing second for the American League Rookie of the Year behind Ichiro Suzuki of Seattle. Sabathia never had a losing record in Cleveland, going to the 2003 and 2004 All-Star Games. He remained a strong performer, but in 2007, he had his best year in baseball, where he won the Cy Young off of a 19-7 record with a league-leading 241 Innings Pitched, 5.65 SO/BB with 209 Strikeouts.
With Sabathia set to become a Free Agent in 2009 and the Indians struggling, he was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in June of 2008. With Cleveland, Sabathia went 106-71 with 1,265 Strikeouts.
