Inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2000, 101 years after he last played, Bid McPhee is a lot more than the answer to a trivia question of “Who is the last Second Baseman to play without a glove”.

McPhee was a Red all of his career (or when he started as a Red Stocking) from 1882 and accumulated 2,258 Hits but it was his defensive acumen where he truly excelled.  He would finish in the top ten in Defensive bWAR 10 times over his career and would lead in Double Plays turned 11 times.  He still has the career record for Second Basemen in Putouts, and was chosen for the Reds Hall of Fame in 2002.
