Debuting for the White Sox in 1957 after signing as an Amateur Free Agent five years earlier, Jim Landis worked his way to the starting Centerfielder role the season after.

In 1959, he would help the “Go-Go Sox” win the American League Pennant.  Chicago lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers, but Landis had a great year leading the American League in Total Zone Runs (25) and had 140 Hits with 20 Stolen Bases.  Landis would then win the next five Gold Gloves at Center and was named an All-Star in 1962.

He left Chicago when he was traded to the Athletics in 1965.  Landis would have 892 Hits, 83 Home Runs, 127 SB, and a 250 Batting Average over his career with the White Sox.
