Joining the Red Sox as a Rule 5 Draft Pick for the 1910 season, Duffy Lewis became the starting Leftfielder for the team up until 1917 when he joined the Navy to serve in World War I.  Upon his return, and he was traded to the New York Yankees.

Lewis was a consistent presence who, with Boston, would collect at least 142 Hits and as many as 167.  In two of those seasons, he batted at least .300, and he was known for his acrobatic catches in Left.  With his help, Boston won the 1912, 1915, and 1916 World Series, and he had 20 Hits with a .299 Batting Average in his three post-seasons.

Lewis would accrue 1,248 Hits for Boston and batted .289 for the Red Sox and was chosen for the Red Sox Hall of Fame in 2002.
