Playing all but his last 68 Games with the Baltimore Orioles, Al Bumbry had a great start winning the American League Rookie of the Year in 1973, in a season where he led the AL in Triples (11) and batted .337.  The next three seasons saw a considerable drop in production, but he rebounded in 199 with a .317 year.  Sadly, he regressed again.

Bumbry would forever be labeled an up or down player, but when he was up, he was one of the best hitting Centerfielders in the AL.  Aside from his ROY season, Bumbry’s best year was in 1980, where he batted .318, had 205 Hits, and was named to the All-Star Team.  Late in his career, he would help Baltimore win the 1983 World Series.

Overall in Baltimore, Bumbry had 252 Stolen Bases with a .283 Average and 1,403 Hits.  In 1987, Bumbry was selected for the Orioles Hall of Fame.
