We don’t talk enough about excellent fielding First Basemen, but if you are going to start with one, chronologically speaking, that is, Fred Tenney is the perfect place to start.

Tenney played 15 of his 17 seasons with Boston of the National League, the team that would eventually become today’s Atlanta Braves.  In addition to his stellar defense, Tenney was a good hitter who strung together six.300 Seasons, 2,231 career Hits, and a lifetime Batting Average of .294.
