The Artists

Guy Terrifico

Called the Canadian Country Music version of Spinal Tap (though we don’t know if there was a call for that) we have “The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico” which has the title character rise up the ranks of the Country Music scene only to fall victim to the excess of the lifestyle. With cameos by Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Levon Helm, it made us want to take a look, and you know what…this wasn’t bad. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Life and Hard Times of Guy Terrifico (2005) Actor: Matt Murphy Songs you might remember: Just…

Hakeem Lyon

The youngest son of Hip-Hop mogul, Lucious Lyon, Hakeem Lyon was presented as a rap prodigy who has the exuberance of youth and the ability to make it rain wherever he wants. As of this writing, the show is still young and any real analysis of this character can’t really be decided…at least not for our Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anyway.              The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Empire (2015-) Actors:Bryshere Y. Gray Songs you might remember:Drip Drop Why you should vote for him:If you want to be a Hip-Hop artist, being born into the genre’s…

Hamlin Rule

The cheese factor is through the roof here as Martin Mull starred as Hamlin Rule, a Rock and Roll flute player who uses his piping skills to have children steal for him (Seriously). This was of course before he was stopped by Wonder Woman and learned a lesson in life. Thanks Lynda Carter!

Hampton the Hamster

As the Internet exploded with porn, the other end of the spectrum gave us a high-pitched dancing hamster. If there was one thing that pop culture has taught us, it is that trying to decipher what will become successful is impossible, so rather than figure out how the Hamster Dance became a minor hit, let’s just say that for a hot minute initially because a Canadian art student wanted to make something cute, and American commerce found a way to make money off it.   The Bullet Points: Album Appeared: The Hamsterdance Album (2000) Actor: None Songs you might remember: The…

Handful of Peter

Inspired by a local talent show, Peter and Lois Griffin elect to resurrect their old folk duo. They remembered themselves as brilliant, and thought that is what they recaptured. Unfortunately, they also adopted their old practice of doing drugs before their performances, and the end result was the two of them wailing incomprehensibly. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Family Guy (2006) Actors: Seth McFarlane (Peter Griffin) Alex Borstein (Lois Griffin) Songs you might remember: Noble Indian Chief/Do Her Why you should vote for them: Anything Family Guy related is always good for a laugh. Why you should not vote…

Hangman's Joke

In what was Brandon Lee’s best and final film, The Crow was a dark and brooding film with an amazing soundtrack. Before he turned into the “Crow” we had a brief glimpse of his musical career, as he was the lead guitarist for Hangman’s Joke, which was explored more in the seldom seen TV Series. Does this deserve an entry? Probably not, but this was a very good film, so we are throwing it a bone here. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Crow (1994) Actors: Brandon Lee Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them:…

Hannah Montana

Hannah Montana launched Miley Cyrus from Billy Ray’s daughter to International Superstar and if you are to judge your fictitious singers by success, it is hard to ignore this candidate. Actually, we would say it is near impossible. Consider that this is one of the most successful television shows ever made by Disney that it had numerous hit albums, generated profitable tours and featured Montana performing often should make it a great candidate. We can’t say that the music was great, but it was what it needed to be. Besides, we bet that everyone who came to our website knows…

Happy Kyne and the Mirthmakers

The house band on the satire Talk Show, Fernwood 2 Night, Happy Kyne and the Mirthmakers were out of touch, horrible, and unfunny; which made them perfect for this send up of the Talk Show format. The bandleader was played by Frank De Vol, who was known mostly for the multitude of TV Show themes he created in the 60’s and 70’s.   Incidentally, despite leading the Mirthmaker and being named “Happy”, we did not often see the beloved bandleader in a good disposition. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Fernwood 2 Night (1977) Actors: Frank DeVol (Happy Kyne) We don’t…

Hard Core Logo

Hard Core Logo may not have achieved an audience outside of Canada, but it was a very well received mockumentary that gave us a look of at a once successful Punk Rock band and their reunion tour. As with any mockumentary, the band is full of bizarre characters, strange events, but most importantly, the music was strong, and you had no problem believing this group really existed. As an indicator of how good the music was, there was also a pretend tribute album that was actually got released. If this received even a halfway decent audience outside of Canada, we…

Haven Hamilton

The elder statesmen of the Nashville music scene, Haven Hamilton brought us white sideburns and interesting suits. He was presented as a Nashville legend with political aspirations; an interesting combination indeed. Played by Henry Gibson, we saw a side of the funny man that we frankly did not know he was capable of. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Nashville (1975) Actor: Henry Gibson Songs you might remember: Keep A-Goin 200 Years Why you should vote for him: His role was large, and undervalued. Why you should not vote for him: We did call this the Fictitious “Rock and Roll” Hall…

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

We aren’t sure if this is the most unique choice on the ballot, but we are convinced there is nobody else like it.   From the movie of the same name, we have Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which was fronted by an East German transsexual (John Cameron Mitchell as Hedwig) whose botched gender reassignment surgery left her with an “Angry Inch”, hence the name of her backing band. Musically it was solid, as composer Stephen Trask (who appeared with his own band as the “Angry Inch”) did a great job and the authenticity is certainly there. As this has become…

Hep Alien

We may have not been a huge fan of the Gilmore Girls (seriously, did you ever notice that everyone at the show talks in the same rapid cadence?) but the show did give us a solid candidate in Hep Alien. Formed by Lanie Kim, the band would perform cover songs and would eventually play Seventh Day Adventist Churches and have former Skid Row front man, Sebastian Bach play a role in the band. This might be a dark horse candidate; providing fans of the Gilmore Girls visit our website. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Gilmore Girls (2000-07) Actors:…

Herbie and the Heartbeats

From the George Lucas retro masterpiece, American Graffiti was a great ensemble piece that made older people nostalgic and younger people curious about a past era. Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids were already a group that was doing 50’s and early 60’s music, so they were the perfect choice to play the “Sock Hop” in the film. They did two great covers (At the Hop & Louie Louie) and had a taste of mainstream success shortly after. We are not sure what the climate on this site is for a retro cover act, but this is not a bad…

Hey, That's My Bike

From the “Generation X” Film, Reality Bites, we have Troy Dyer, the lead singer of “Hey, That’s My Bike”, who in Reality Bites showed his Gen X ethos, though we are so conflicted with this act.   We admittedly are not quite certain whether this is a great choice for the FRRHOF or whether he is just a douche. This could be the most befuddling choice on our ballot. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Reality Bites (1994) Actors: Ethan Hawke (Troy Dyer) Nathan December Jack Irons Christopher Wagner Songs you might remember: Add It Up Why you should vote for him:…

Hi-Fye

Just to make sure we understand. A thirty something rotund blowhard could be made into a Buddy Holly knockoff and become a teen idol? We guess only in Bedrock with Fred Flintstone as this did happen in a memorable episode of the Flintstones.

Hooray for Everything

Spoofing the horrible Super Bowl Half Time shows that was disgustingly sweet and vomit inducing (though they actually appeared four times at the big game), “Up With People” was a Half Time show during a Super Bowl episode that Homer Simpson watched in the big game that his daughter helped him bet on. They would make a return at Duff Gardens, complete with all of their cheese intact, though we did miss their tribute to the Western Hemisphere. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1990 & 1993) Actors: We aren’t really sure who did the voices. Let’s assume…

Hot Sundae

As far as we know, the all girl group of the three girls of Saved by the Bell lasted only one episode, but the memories of Jessie Spano succumbing to the pressures of being a future “Showgirl” live on with us forever. Fans of the show (and we sheepishly admit we are ones) will never forget Elizabeth Berkley singing, “I’m So Excited” during her breakdown. Now kids, what did we learn from that? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Saved by the Bell (1990) Actors: Elizabeth Berkley (Jessie Spano) Tiffany Amber-Thiessen (Kelly Kapowski) Lark Voorhies (Lisa Turtle) Songs you might…

Howie, Mark, Johny, Jim and Al

From the underappreciated concept album (The Turtles present the Battle of the Bands) by the Turtles we have an albums where different “bands” appeared. This allowed the group to not only stretch their skills musically, as each “band” had a completely different sound and also showcase their humor. “Elenore” was the biggest hit from the album, which was actually parodying their biggest pop hit, “Happy Together”. The song had an artfully crafted pop sound, though lyrically it lampooned the entire genre. We wonder how many of their younger fans got the joke at the time. The Bullet Points: Album Appeared:…

I Can't Go On, I'll Go On

Bandslam may not have appealed to the adult set, but it was never supposed to. It was a cute film geared towards the young adult set where a band brings misfits (with the name, I Can’t Go On, I’ll Go On) together. Depending on your point of view, this may not be what Rock and Roll is all about it, but at least this picture knew what it was trying to be, and the music is not that bad.     The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Bandslam (2009) Actors: Aly Michalka (Charlotte Barnes) Gaelen Connell (Will Burton) Vanessa Hudgens (Sa5m) Charlie…

I.R.S.

Another that we think barely qualifies, I.R.S. was the band that Betty Suarez’ love interest, Henry managed and later sang for in Ugly Betty’s second season. We had to put this on the ballot as this program gave us a cameo from Gene Simmons, though Gene isn’t propelling this act into the Fictitious Athlete Hall of Fame.         The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Ugly Betty (2008) Actors: Christopher Gorham (Henry Grubstick) We did not bother to research who else. Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them: The only reason we have is that America…

Ian Rubbish and the Bizzaros

From a Saturday Night Live Short, “Ian Rubbish and the Bizzaros” was a one note bit, but showed a historical perspective of an English Punk Band who became fans of the establishment. Incidentally, Rubbish (played by Fred Armisen) would receive an additional life elsewhere, but without the mainstream audience, does it really have a shot? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Saturday Night Live (2011) Actors: Fred Armisen (Ian Rubbish) Bill Hader (Derek Gash) Taran Killan (Keith Grisham) Songs you might remember: Hey Policeman Cunt in a Crown Why you should vote for them: SNL and Punk? We are all…

Iron Weasel

“I’m With the Band” was not the greatest Disney TV show ever created, though it did have its charm. The premise has a fifteen year old winning a contest to meet his favorite Rock Band (Iron Weasel) and in what can only happen in the Disneyverse, he becomes part of the group. The show did not have the best reviews, but it did make it at least two seasons, so it did have a small audience at least. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: I’m In the Band (2009-11) Actors: Logan Miller (Tripp Campbell, Lead Guitar) Stephen Full (Ash Tyler,…

Ivan and the Terribles

From the unintentional schlock (isn’t that the best kind of schlock?) of a Horror film, “Motel Hell”, we have a band that was travelling to the wrong place at the wrong time. Ivan and the Terribles, were the victim of all sorts of torture by the friendly psychopath in the film and did so with the great acting you would expect. The band did have a future mailman in the form of John Ratzenberger, which may be what we remember it the most for.   The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Motel Hell (1980) Actors: Michael Melvin (Ivan, Singer) John Ratzenberger (Drummer)…

Ivanhoe Martin

Arguably the most important film to come out of Jamaica, The Harder They Come starred Jimmy Cliff as Ivanhoe “Ivan” Martin, an aspiring reggae musician who fights the record company and the law on his road to stardom. This is a genre that had not given us very many representatives, and as this is one from an iconic film, that gave a great soundtrack and is by a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, we think we may have a sleeper candidate here.    The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Harder They Come (1972) Actor: Jimmy Cliff Songs you might…

Jack Butler

If you want to employ a shredder for a guitar battle, you would be hard pressed to better than Steve Vai. He is known throughout the world for his skills with the axe, but it was a little painful to watch him lose to Ralph Macchio at the end.
