RIP: Bert Sugar

Just two weeks ago, I was listening to my local Sports Radio station where Bert Sugar was a guest discussing his memories of the first Ali-Frazier fight.  Sugar was there covering the event, and to those who followed the sport, he was considered as the premier writer of the sport.

Sugar died today following Cardiac Arrest at the age of 75, and I can't help but think that another part of boxing died with him.  It is no secret, that boxing is a sport on life support, and we likely won't be bothered to create Notinhalloffame section for it.  With another all time great gone, we are not just mournning the loss of great boxing writer....we are mourning the loss of boxing itself.

New Blogs are up!!!!

I love the people who blog here!   I just wanted to draw your attention to some new blogs that have been written here.  First off our newest blogger, The Kidd, is taking a look at the tight race for the Calder Trophy in the NHL.  You can view this at Kidd's Corner.

Our Music Blogger, Live Music Head, has a wonderful new piece on Grant Smith & The Power, and the 60's R&B music scene.  Live Music Head always an interesting take on the music industry and as always she delivered an excellent piece to us.

Finally, DDT takes a look at VH1 and their take on the Greatest Artists of All Time.  DDT does an excellent job taking VH1 to task on how they view music (and their role in it).

Check these out when you can!

Chipper Jones announces that this is his last year

As you may have heard, Atlanta Braves' star, Chipper Jones has announced that this will be his farewell season.  Speculation is that he will be a first ballot Hall of Famer and why not?

Listen to these credentials:  1999 NL MVP, a career Batting Average of .304, a career OPS of .935 (making him 31st overall), 454 Home Runs and a career WAR of 82.7, which makes him 35th overall for position players.  Chipper Jones also has not been attached to controversy of any kind.  Realistically, there is no reason to think that he won't get in right away (2017).  Enjoy this season, and take a chance to catch him if he visits your ballpark, and honor one of the great ones.

Yokozuna selected to the WWE Hall of Fame

It has been long rumored, but on wwe.com, it was officially announced that Yokozuna would be joining the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2012.  The former two time WWE World Heavyweight Champion was one of the most dominant big men in the history of the business, and a star in an era where the "E" did not have very many.  We had him ranked very high, and we are very happy with this induction.
