432. Aimee Mann

Although her previous work in ‘Til Tuesday was not among the most acclaimed, the solo work of Aimee Mann made her among the most respected female songwriters in America.  Mann really hit her stride and gained mass respect with her contributions to the Magnolia Soundtrack.  Her entire solo career has been brilliant, though without a real breakthrough on any charts it will be an uphill climb for induction.  Although, we all know that stranger things have happened.

442. AFI

For many it would come as a surprise that AFI would be eligible as soon as 2018, but they toiled in relative obscurity for over a decade before they achieved any real level of success.  Once they did, their Hardcore Punk brand of Emo caught on and gained them a serious amount of fans.  Having said that, this is one band that will have to have a massive amount of success over the next ten years to receive any serious Hall consideration, as should any Emo designated band receive induction as it stands now won’t be them.

49. Tool

Although it has certainly been seen that Metal is struggling to find a solid place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it will be interesting to see what they do with Tool who by no means was a traditional Metal band.  Tool added Post Punk and Progressive styles and dark imagery (both in videos and in lyrics) this was a band that was intelligent as they were “depressing”.  The Artistic elements that they used work in their favor for any potential induction, but if they are lumped primarily as a Metal band, then their chances will greatly diminish.

135. TLC

As one of the most successful group of the 90’s, TLC had a large string of hits that combined Hip Hop, Pop and other forms of Dance music.  As successful as they were, they were equally controversial as they were involved in as much personal turmoil as any Male Hip Hop figure of the decade.  Behind all that lay a threesome that were very capable as musicians, and they were certainly more successful than most.  Had band member, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes not died prematurely, their overall discography would likely be stronger and more deep as opposed to the four albums they put out.
