The Amps

Kim Deal should be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in some capacity, though we do not think that her post Breeders project, The Amps, will be the way in which she enters Cleveland. With only one album, which although was very good, the Amps were a nice footnote to her stellar career, but not much more than that.

Slash's Snake Pit

Justifiably inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Guns ‘N’ Roses, Slash led a Hard Rock project in 1995 aptly named Slash’s Snakepit. The band never took off the way that GNR did, but how could it? Many artists have entered the Hall a second time but there is little reason to think that Slash will be able to do so with this project.

Seven Mary Three

Dubbed inappropriately as Pearl Jam Lite by some, Seven Mary Three was a hard working rock band that straddled the line between traditional Rock and Alternative. The band managed to score a couple of hits in the last half of the 90’s, but the band petered off in popularity and in all reality had not nearly enough to be a serious Cleveland contender.

Opeth

Although Sweden is known to many casual music fans for just Bubblegum Pop Music, the Scandinavian nation is actually a hotbed for Metal Music.   Opeth is one of those bands, and easily one of the better ones. Known for pushing the boundaries of Progressive Metal, they have always received positive reviews from the critics and established themselves in the genre. Of course, powerhouse Metal acts form the 70’s and 80’s are not yet in, so the odds for this Swedish group is poor to say the least.
