483. Creed

Creed sold a ton of records in the late 90’s and were initially filled a void for many in a post Grunge world. It was a bit of a Catch 22 for the band as though they had a similar guitar sound, they were without the angst and brooding of their Seattle forefathers. As such they were panned by critics and trashed on the information superhighway. Regardless, that did not stop impressive record sales and though critically despised bands don’t enter the Hall, they can retire with large bank accounts.

Children of Bodom

Heavy Metal and well-rounded general don’t go together, but there is a strong case that can be made for the Finnish group, Children of Bodom, who string together the various elements of the hard hitting genre with ease. Lately, they have slowly begun making inroads to the United States, but as we constantly say about Metal acts in regards to Cleveland…...

Calexico

With a name like “Calexico”, you would expect to hear a Tex Man/Alternative Country Sound, and damned if that is not what you get! The band may be one of the best mosaics of the American Southwest in a long time, but without a major hit and without Alt Country pioneers in the Hall of Fame, there is little reason to suggest that this critical darling will get in.

Beta Band

A darling of the respected BritPop bands, Scotland’s Beta Band was fairly far from being one themselves. Dubbed “folktronica” due to their ability to merge Folk with Electronic elements, it is a safe assumption to state that the Beta Band had no real equal during their time. With that said, their uniqueness has yet to be proven as influential; which it what the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has always stated they wanted in their inductees.
