Actually our favorite George Costanza job was a latex salesman; he had what may have been his highest profile position with New York Yankees Management. He managed to get the job by insulting George Steinbrenner (simply by doing everything opposite), introduced cotton to the pinstripes, was essentially incompetent and was traded to a chicken company. It may not sound impressive, but didn’t the Yankees enter a mini-dynasty in the late 90’s? George couldn’t have helped with that could he? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Seinfeld (1989-1998) Actor: Jason Alexander Role Portrayed: Assistant to the Travelling Secretary and other positions for the New York Yankees Worked for: The New York Yankees Why you should vote for him: Although they did not win the World Series while he was there, the Yankees became a dynasty shortly after. Why you should not vote for him: You think Art Vandalay really had anything to do with the success in the Bronx? {youtube}

As the alcoholic Basketball savant, Wilbur “Shooter” Flatch, loved the game, though did not love himself, as shown by his addiction. “Shooter”, through the help of Norman Dale (Gene Hackman) and the sport himself, Flatch was redeemed (as was Dale in his own way), and his side story enhances the overall flow of the movie, which is not an easy thing to accomplish. We should also note that this was the comeback role for Hopper, who would star in many more films after. Generally, we would not think of Assistant Coaches for our Hall of Fame, but if any one does, our money’s on Shooter. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Hoosiers (1986) Actor: Dennis Hopper Role Portrayed: Assistant Coach of the Hickory H.S. Basketball Team Why you should vote for him: Hickory did win at the end, and we will attribute some of that to advance scouting of Shooter. Why you should not vote for him: A High School Basketball Assistant Coach for the Hall? Seems a little low on the totem pole, doesn’t it? {youtube}

Did Walter Oakes ever win a game at Hillman College coaching their Basketball team? Maybe he did….honestly we don’t remember, nor do we recall any basketball themed episodes on “A Different World”. Actually, we don’t recall Sinbad ever making us laugh either. Wait, why he is on the ballot again? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: A Different World (1987-1993) Actor: Sinbad Role Portrayed: Coach Coached for: Hillman College Why you should vote for him: Maybe Sinbad slept with Lisa Bonet? We would respect that. Why you should not vote for him: As the Basketball Coach, we don’t recall him coaching anybody. {youtube}

Actually, we just love the name of “Vicki Vallencourt”; and for a hot second we loved Fairuza Balk…..though we were not exactly sure why.
