Utilizing the common TV plot device that ages children without explanation, the children of the Flintstones and Rubbles were now troublemaking teenagers who had their own Bubblegum Pop group, with their three friends (Moonrock, Penny and Wiggy). They were a little late to cash in on that genre of Pop, but their animated show did a little better than most. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Pebbles and Bamm-Bamm Show (1971-72) Actors: Sally Struthers (Pebbles) Jay North (Bamm-Bamm) Songs you might remember: Yabba Dabba Doozie Why you should vote for them: Only if you are a Flintstones fan. In one of the most famous Simpsons episodes of all time, we learn of Homer’s past singing career as a member of the successful Barbershop Quartet, The Be Sharps. How successful were they? Well, they had a major hit (Baby on Board) and won the Grammy for Soul, Spoken Word and Barber Shop Quartet! Of course, like all successful Barber Shop groups; they were a victim of their own success, and a Yoko Ono lookalike. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1993) Actors: Singing Voices: The Dapper Dans The Fictional Band: Homer Simpson Barney Gumble Seymour Skinner Apu Neehasapeemapetilon Songs you might remember: Baby on Board Why you should vote for them: Come on, they won a Grammy! Why you should not vote for them: Oh wait…..it’s a Grammy. {youtube}

Basically playing a “stone age” version of themselves, The B-52’s gave us a new version of the classic Flintstones theme song and performed at a club in the film. This movie was a major hit, but was an artistic disaster, and speaking for ourselves, we would rather remember them for Rock Lobster and not for Bedrock Lobster. Sorry for that terrible pun. The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: The Flintstones (1994) Actors: The B-52’s Songs you might remember: The Flintstones Theme The Bedrock Twitch Why you should vote for them: Only if you are a fan of this film, or the B-52’s in general. Why you should not vote for them: This film is a disaster. {youtube}

In the seemingly never ending animated show, The Simpsons, some people may have forgotten that the character of Bart Simpson actually had two top 100 hits in the United States. “Do the Bartman” from the album, “The Simpsons Sing the Blues” actually reached #11 in 1990. On the show, Bart showed proficiency with the drums, was in a boy band, but also had a hit in Springfield with “I Didn’t Do It” when he was a featured player on the Krusty the Clown show. With success in the real world and the fake world, does this not make Bart Simpson a legitimate candidate for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1988-) Actors: Nancy Cartwright Songs you might remember: Do the Bartman Deep Deep Trouble I Didn’t Do It Why you should vote for him: He actually did have a mainstream hit. Why you should not vote for him: Musically speaking, it was not that good. {youtube}
