Jenny Curan

Jenny Curran
Marginally qualifying due to covering Bob Dylan while topless, Jenny Curran was the love of Forrest Gump’s life (though we still doubt Forrest really knows what love is). Jenny wanted to make a difference for a brief period of time with her music, though there is only so much you can do when you don’t have your clothes on.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Forrest Gump (1994)

Actor:
Robin Wright

Songs you might remember:
Blowing in the Wind

Why you should vote for her:
The fact that this performance (however brief) came from an iconic Best Picture winner holds some merit.

Why you should not vote for her:
A lame cover does not a Hall of Fame entry make.

Jennie Lee and the Mystery

Jennie Lee and the Mystery
Did anyone really ask for a movie starring Mallory from Family Ties? We didn’t think that anyone did, but here we have “Satisfaction” which stars Bateman as the lead singer of the Mystery, who along with her band head to Florida looking for a gig after High School Graduation. The film is cliché ridden and was repackaged on cable as a Julia Roberts vehicle after her career exploded with Pretty Woman. Our biggest problem is not so much that the plot and writing was lame, but that the band…well sucked, and frankly were not capable of getting any gig in the real world.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Satisfaction (1988)

Actors:
Justine Bateman (Jennie Lee, Lead Singer)
Julia Roberts (Daryle, Bass)
Trini Alvarado (Mooch, Drummer)
Britta Phillips (Billie, Guitar)
Scott Coffey (Nickie, Keyboards)

Songs you might remember:
Satisfaction

Why you should vote for them:
This is the film that gave us Julia Roberts.

Why you should not vote for them:
They were not very good, and were two stages below a bad bar band.

Jem and the Holograms

Jem and the Holograms
Why a 1980’s record label needs the ultimate holographic computer is beyond us, but you have to hand it Hasbro who figured out that nobody would care as long as they had catchy pop songs, decent female role models and dolls to sell. Jem and the Holograms was a successful animated series that created 65 episodes and remains in the conscious of women who grew up in that era. An induction for this entry is a lot more likely than you might think.

The Bullet Points:
TV Shows Appeared:
Jem (1985-88)

Actors:
Samantha Newark (voice) Britta Phillips (singing) (Jem/Jessica Benton)
Cathianne Blore (voice) Florence Warner (singing) (Kimber Benton)
Cathianne Blore (voice) (Aja Leith)
Cindy McGee (voice) (Shana Elmsford)
Linda Dangcil (voice) Carmen “Raya” Alonso

Songs you might remember:
Truly, Truly, Truly Outrageous

Why you should vote for them:
This was actually a huge show at the time.

Why you should not vote for them:
Other than the theme, there are no enduring songs. You would think with 65 episodes that could happen.

Jeffster!

Jeffster
This very well could be the one on the ballot whose support from all of you we are most curious to learn about.   Chuck lasted for five seasons, and though we can’t say it was a major success, it had a solid audience. Within the show, so did “Jeffster”, a combination of the two names of their members Jeff Barnes and Lester Patel, two of Chuck’s co-workers from the Nerd Herd. They would do many performances on the show, and became a much look forwarded component to the program. This entry’s success or failure for the Fictitious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has to be based on just how many Chuck fans we have who visit here.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Chuck (2007-11)

Actors:
Scott Krinsky (Jeff Barnes, Keyboard)
Vik Sahay (Lester Patel, Vocals)

Songs you might remember:
Numerous covers

Why you should vote for them:
We learned more about this band than half of the other acts on this ballot combined.

Why you should not vote for them:
If we go by pure talent, there are better selections to choose from.
