Steve Smith might be best known for an error he caused in the 1986 Smythe Division Finals. With the score tied at two, Smith collected the puck from behind his net, and when he went to clear it, he deflected it off his Goalie, Grant Fuhr, and the puck wound up in his own net. The Oilers would lose the game and the series, and Smith was labeled a "bonehead" by Oilers fans.
One of the best blueliners ever to come out of Finland, Janne Niinamaa, would spend six and a half seasons with the Edmonton Oilers (1998-03).
Drafted 1st Overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2011, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins had a great rookie campaign where he scored 52 Points and finished second for Calder Trophy voting. Injuries took him out of half of his second season, but he would follow that up with back-to-back 56 Point years in 2013-14 & 2014-15. He dipped below the 50 Point threshold and had his best statistical season last year (2018-19) with career-highs of 28 Goals, 41 Assists, and 69 Points. Nugent-Hopkins followed up with his second straight 60 Point year with 61.
Blair MacDonald made his pro debut with the Edmonton Oilers in the 1973-74 Season, where he had 45 points in his rookie season. He would exceed by one point as a sophomore, but the Oilers traded him to the Indianapolis Racers, though that stay in Indiana would be short-lived.
