Often the word “Psychedelic” is used when describing influences and styles in Rock and Roll music. One of the bands who helped to popularize the Psychedelic style of the music, the 13th Floor Elevators is usually forgotten in the conversation; though not by the bands that they influenced.

428. The Kingston Trio

With many entries on this list, we spoke about how without them many other artists may not have existed. The Kingston Trio partially falls into that category, for while they may not have been the direct inspiration for Bob Dylan and such; their success showed record companies that Folk Rock could be commercially viable.

178. Mitch Ryder & the Detroit Wheels

Although Mitch Ryder may have come from the land of Motown, he was certainly credited with some of the most driving Rock sounds that came out of the United States in the 1960’s. Although, a closer look may link Ryder closer to the Soul sound then at first glance.

219. Brook Benton

With a resume of over forty five top one hundred Billboard hits; you would think that Brook Benton would have been the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by now. The truth is, Benton has yet to even receive a nomination as of yet and be the first to show exceptional success yet befuddle the Hall as to whether he his Rock and Roll worthy.
