  • There are athletes in their respective sport that breaches the influence that Bobby Jones did in the sport of golf.

A lawyer by profession, Jones remained an amateur golfer, winning the U.S. Amateur five times and the British Amateur once in the 1920s. He played against the professionals, winning four U.S. Opens and three British Opens, and despite his amateur status, there was little question that he was the top golfer of the decade.

Retiring at age 28, Jones accomplishments off of the links rivalled what he did on it. He co-founded the Masters, bringing in innovations that swept throughout tournaments around the world. He also helped design and found the Augusta National Golf Club, which is one of, if not, the most famous golf course in the world.

We are proud to nominate Bobby Jones for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
