  • A tackle at Miami of Ohio from 1948 to 1950, Bo Schembechler became their head coach in 1965. Schembechler led Miami to two MAC titles (1965 & 1968), and his profile was rising. The University of Michigan noticed him, and in a fifteen-minute interview, he won the job as the Wolverines head coach in 1969.



    Schembechler ran Michigan for 21 years, and they never had less than eight wins. While their bowl record was not good under Schembechler (5-12), but they got there, appearing in 10 Rose Bowls and finishing first in the Big Ten 13 times. The Wolverines finished in the top ten in sixteen different seasons, peaking at number 2 with a Fiesta Bowl win in 1985.



    The legacy that Schembechler left behind will forever be etched in Michigan blue.
