The Darlings

Darlings The
Initially, we were not going to nominate the Darling Boys who had a multiple episodes on the Andy Griffith Show in the 60’s, but if we have the Dale Gribble Bluegrass Experience on the ballot, we have to include a group from a far more successful show, which was played by a real Bluegrass Band (The Dillards). Besides, as you may have noticed we love the cheese factor, and with Denver Pyle (the future Uncle Jesse from the Dukes of Hazzard) occasionally playing the jug to help out, we think this elevates them a notch.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Andy Griffith Show (1963-66)

Actors:
The Dillards

Songs you might remember:
Dooley

Why you should vote for them:
If you get multiple appearances on a very popular show, the demand is there.

Why you should not vote for them:
First off, it is a Bluegrass band, and second…the audience for Andy Griffith is well…dead.

Darlene McBride

Darlene McBride
From Mad TV, we have Darlene McBride (Nicole Sullivan), the heavily made up, ultra right wing Country Singer who took hatemongering to a new level. The character appeared in multiple sketches over a four year period and we always thought that Nicole Sullivan was the MVP of that sketch comedy show, and that was enough for us to put her on the ballot.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Mad TV (1997-2001)

Actor:
Nicole Sullivan

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for her:
Perhaps you agree with us that Sullivan is the Mad TV MVP.

Why you should not vote for her:
With all due respect to Mad TV, there really is no strong candidate from the show.

Danny Romalotti

Danny Romalotti
The greatest Rock Star ever to come from Genoa City, Wisconsin (A place we love because it is fictitious!), Danny Romalotti apparently had a lot of hits, though we can’t say that we know any of them. He had a lot of concerts, though we aren’t sure who attended them. Michael Damian (who played Romalotto); actually hit number one with the David Essex cover, played “Rock On” in 1989.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Young and the Restless (1980-92)

Actor:
Michael Damian

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for him:
Does twelve years on the top of Genoa City matter?

Why you should not vote for him:
Being the top guy in Genoa City doesn’t say much.

Danny Fisher

Danny Fisher
Elvis Presley’s favorite role, and the one that many thought was his best, Elvis Presley played Danny Fisher in King Creole, a 1958 film that showed the King at his rebellious best. For what it is worth, if you have never seen an Elvis film, this is the one that we would recommend, and the one worth voting for the most.  With that said, how well have Elvis Presley movies aged, and how many people try to watch them today?

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
King Creole (1958)

Actor:
Elvis Presley

Songs you might remember:
Crawfish
Trouble

Why you should vote for him:
This is Elvis’ best work.

Why you should not vote for him:
Even his best work does not age that well.

Daniel Jensen

Daniel Jensen
New Year’s Eve was one of the many attempts to do an ensemble Romantic Comedy film that just didn’t work. We wonder if someone were to ever come up with an equation for acting talent against movie quality if this film would have the largest chasm. One of the talents of the film, Jon Bon Jovi (Seriously, he isn’t a bad actor) played a rock star playing Times Square at New Year’s Eve. We can’t say we remember much of what he did, and we had to research the name of the song he sang, and we are positive we are not the only ones who thought the same.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
New Year’s Eve (2011)

Actor:
Jon Bon Jovi

Songs you might remember:
Have a Little Faith In Me

Why you should vote for him:
Well….we are Livin’ on a Prayer to think there is a solid reason.

Why you should not vote for him:
This was a horrible film and Bon Jovi was given nothing to work with.

Dandi and Pandi

Dandi and Pandi
Calling this movie horrible would be an insult to the word. From the 1980 “film” The Apple, Dandi and Pandi were an overly sequined duo singing what we assume was supposed to futuristic Glam Rock. The biracial pair helped seduce a country folk duo to the dark side so to speak, but in a movie this bad, does it really matter?

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
The Apple (1980)

Actors:
Allan Love (Dandi)
Grace Kennedy (Pandi)

Songs you might remember:
Nothing

Why you should vote for him them:
We have no valid reason

Why you should not vote for them:
This is a horrific piece of cinema.

The Dalton Academy Warblers

Dalton Academy Warblers The
We might have to rely on the help of the Glee fans on this one. We admit to not knowing that much about the Glee phenomenon, but we are aware that is was pretty big at one time. As such, one of the main opponents for the William McKinley High Glee Club has to be considered a contender here; especially considering the Warblers actually had an album that went to number 2 on Billboard. Seriously, that did happen.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Glee (2010-)

Actors:
Darren Criss (Blaine)
Chris Colfer (Kurt)
Telly Leung (Wes)
Dominic Barnes (Trent)
Curt Mega (Nick)
Riker Lynch (Jeff)
Jon Hall (Beatboxer)
Grant Gustin (Sebastian)
Titus Makin (David)
Eddy Martin (Thad)
Nolan Gerard Funk (Hunter)

Songs you might remember:
A bunch of covers

Why you should vote for them:
It is hard to argue with the success of a group that is not prominently featured, yet still sells albums in the real world.

Why you should not vote for them:
Does any a capella singing group really belong?

The Dale Gribble Bluegrass Experience

Dale Gribble Bluegrass Experience The
The animated gang in Arlen, Texas began jamming with their pre-teen neighbor, Kahn "Kahnie" Souphanousinphone, who has found that Bluegrass is a lot more fun than her classically trained violin skills. Feeling that they were good enough to enter the 15th Annual Old Time Fiddle Festival in Branson, Hank, Dale, Boomhauer, Bill and Kahnie travel there to compete, though the young fiddler found that Hank was just as demanding as her own father, thus taking all the fun out of the music.

Naturally she is replaced by fiddling legend, Charlie Daniels, and somehow the mush mouthed Boomhauer has a singing voice just like Vince Gill. That is why we love cartoons!

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
King of the Hill (2002)

Actors:
Singing Voice: Vince Gill

The Fictional Band:
Hank Hill (guitar)
Boomhauer (Vocals and Banjo)
Dale Gribble (Keyboards)
Bill Dauterive (Washboard)
Kahn "Kahnie" Souphanousinphone (Fiddle)
Charlie Daniels (Fiddle

Blue Moon of Kentucky

Why you should not vote for them:
Does a Bluegrass band qualify?

Cyrus "Truth" DeBarge

Cyrus Truth DeBarge
Let’s look at this equation shall we? We have Cyrano De Bergerac meets lame Rap; and you don’t have to be much of a mathematician to know that this equals something that has no appeal to anyone beyond the age of ten. Ah, Disney, we thank you again.

The Bullet Points:
TV Movie Appeared:
Let it Shine (2012)

Actors:
Tyler James Williams

Songs you might remember:
Let it Shine

Why you should vote for him:
The only valid reason was that this was the kid who starred in “Everybody Hates Chris”. We really liked that show

Why you should not vote for him:
Kiddie Rap should not be any music Hall of Fame

The Culps

Culps The
Following in the SNL tradition of Nick the Lounge Singer and the Sweeney Sisters we have the Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer as Marty and Bobbi-Mohan Culp. They were music teachers whose prim and proper appearance looked perfect for their whitewashed medley of current pop songs. During their sets, they try to give inspirational messages, which are not exactly received well, as shown by the vast amount of middle fingers they receive the teenage audience.

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Saturday Night Live (1996-2002)

Actors:
Will Ferrell (Marty Culp)
Ana Gasteyer (Bobbi Mohan-Culp)

Songs you might remember:
None

Why you should vote for them:
This was a great sketch and had longevity.

Why you should not vote for them:
Do deliberately bad acts belong here?
