Sharon Apple

Sharon Apple
From the Anime Macross Series we have Sharon Apple, a computer generated hologram singer. Rather than go into great detail as to what she is all about, we will say this: If you know the series, you are a fan, and if you have no idea what this is about, even trying to explain it will be pointless.   Let’s see how well this entry does!

The Bullet Points:
TV Show Appeared:
Macross (1982-83)
Macross Plus (1994)

Actors:
N/A

Songs you might remember:
Santi-U

Why you should vote for her:
For Anime fans this is the only nominee, and probably the best one we could give you.

Why you should not vote for her:
Did this even come close to being mainstream? If that matters, this does not have much of a shot.

The Po Boys

Po Boys The
After the Sgt. Pepper’s film fiasco of the late 1970’s, you would think that nobody would dare attempt to make a musical film based on the Beatles, but in 2007, Across the Universe came out to mixed reviews and the proof that the Beatles will probably still be relevant for generations to come. Using the Beatles discography, a storyline in the film showcases a band (naturally), which gives us our nominee here. The actors/singers did a fine job, but somehow watching any Beatles tribute only makes us long for the real thing that much more.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Across the Universe (2007)

Actors:
Dana Fuchs (Sadie)
Martin Luther McCoy (Jojo)

Songs you might remember:
Beatles songs of course!

Why you should vote for them:
This was not a bad performance, especially when expectations were so high.

Why you should not vote for them:
The film was hit and miss, and at the end of the day, when you watch this fake band, you want the real thing immediately after.

Pink

Pink
Before he became known for his charitable work with Live Aid, Bob Geldof was the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats, though Pink Floyd fans remember him best as “Pink”, the self abusing delusional rocker in their film, The Wall. Although the film remains iconic, and the album it is based on is considered a masterpiece, we did not see that much of “Pink’s” ability as a rock star, and as such this could be a candidate that might be overlooked.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Pink Floyd – The Wall (1982)

Actor:
Bob Geldof

Songs you might remember:
In the Flesh?

Why you should vote for him:
This is based on one of (arguably) the greatest albums of all time.

Why you should not vote for him:
This film could have been done a different way, without a Rock and Roll protagonist.

Otis "Bad" Blake

Otis 22Bad22 Blake
As down and out as you could possibly get, Otis “Bad” Blake (Jeff Bridges) was a fallen Country Music star whose star had long since faded. A severe alcoholic, Blake was still a talent, and in “Crazy Heart” we see his rocky path to redemption. The acclaimed film saw Jeff Bridges win the Best Actor Oscar and considering the talents who collaborated on the music for the film (T-Bone Burnett for example) this could be a strong underdog for the Hall.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Crazy Heart (2009)

Actor:
Jeff Bridges

Songs you might remember:
Hold on You

Why you should vote for him:
An Academy Award winning performance should always be considered a threat.

Why you should not vote for him:
Once again, we ask is this nominee too Country for what we called this Hall of Fame?
