From rural Oklahoma to the Big Apple, Mickey Mantle would become one of the most popular players not only in New York Yankee history but in the entire game. The Yankees of the 1950s and early 60s were a dynasty, and it was Mantle whose tape measure home runs that became the focal point.

Mantle led New York to 12 American League Pennants and seven World Series Championships. He still holds the World Series record for the most home runs (18) and RBIs (40). Mantle was the hero for a generation of New Yorkers and will always define that era.
