  • You can’t talk about scoring in basketball without mentioning Wilt Chamberlain, one of the most prolific scorers in the history of the game. Chamberlain, a seven-time scoring champion, is the only player in NBA history to score 100 points in a game and the only player to finish a season averaging over 50 points per game.

Lost in his scoring is his rebounding prowess. Chamberlain is the all-time leader in rebounds (23,924) and rebounds per game (22.9), both of which look to be as untouchable as his 100-point game. When Chamberlain played, you knew you were going to get a statistical assault and bang for your buck.

A four-time MVP, Chamberlain did not win as many titles as his rival Bill Russell, but he did win two rings, one with the Philadelphia 76ers and one with the Los Angeles Lakers.

There will never be another basketball player like him.

We are proud to nominate Wilt Chamberlain for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
