  • White was undoubtedly the workhorse and the face of the organization; it was the Fertitta’s money and leverage that opened the doors to the mainstream.

In 2001, Lorenzo and Frank formed Zuffa LLC to buy the UFC, which had gained attention but not all of it good. It was considered barbaric in some circles and was not licensed in every star. Lorenzo’s friend, Dana White, took over as president, and the three of them built a mixed martial arts empire.

The Fertitta’s used their influence and worked with athletic commissions of New Jersey, Nevada, California, and the Mohegan Sun, and a unified set of rules of MMA was created. This cohesiveness altered opinions on the sport and mainstream traction soon followed.

The Fertittas sold their interest of the UFC to WME-IMG for $4 billion, a considerably higher amount than the $2 million they bought it for.

We are proud to nominate the Fertitta Brothers for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
