  • Freddie Roach was a competent boxer, trained by his father, Paul. Roach had a respectable record of 40-13 (15 by KO), but learning from his father taught him how to be a trainer.

Roach became one of the biggest names among trainers, who worked with a litany of names, including Manny Pacquaio, Miguel Cotto, Virgil Hill, Amir Khan, and Mike Tyson. He also trained Oscar De La Hoya for his 2007 fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Roach was also a successful trainer in mixed martial arts, having worked with Anderson Silva, B.J. Penn, Frank Mir, Jose Aldo, Tito Ortiz, and Georges St. Pierre.

We are proud to nominate Freddie Roach for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
