A guard at Army from 1966 to 1969, Mike Krzyzewski returned as their head coach in 1975 after a year as an assistant under Bobby Knight in Indiana. Krzyzewski was Army’s head coach for five years before going to Duke in 1980. He rebuilt the Blue Devils in his first few years there, but what Krzyzewski accomplished at Duke could not have been predicted.
Krzyzewski brought the Blue Devils to 12 Final Fours and won it all five times. Duke has won 15 ACC Tournaments, and while he is still active, he is already the all-time leader in wins in college basketball.
Internationally, Krzyzewski was a part of five Olympic Gold Medals, three as the head coach and two as an assistant, and he was also a two-time FIBA World Championship head coach.
Krzyzewski is still Duke's head coach, and his legend continues to grow.
