During the British Invasion, many an act became successful on the other side of the pond. Many are remembered and respected today, but in the case of The Searchers they seem to be forgotten with the exception of those they inspired. As it turned out, the amount of people they influenced was quite a lot.
The Rock and Roll world is littered with performers who peaked at their first album and never seemed to even come close to that level of success commercially or critically again. In the case of John Hiatt, it took him years to find that high water mark.
An earlier entry on this list discusses the Hall of Fame credentials of the Specials. Although we believe that should a Ska Revival band get in to the Hall, it should be the Specials, though an induction of the English Beat over them would not exactly be a travesty.
Often the word “Psychedelic” is used when describing influences and styles in Rock and Roll music. One of the bands who helped to popularize the Psychedelic style of the music, the 13th Floor Elevators is usually forgotten in the conversation; though not by the bands that they influenced.
