Frank Black is worthy of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the Pixies, and while they are not yet (as of this writing anyway) in the Hall, there is an excellent shot. As for the solo career of Frank Black, it may have yielded equal acclaim as his former band but commercially and influentially speaking it did not. Still, we can’t help but find a spot for him on this list.
The run of Elastica was brief, but they had a very fruitful run on both sides of the Atlantic. BritPop opened the door for Elastica, although their catchy rhythms echoed the New Wave movement more than the other BritPop acts they were lumped in with. Although they made it in both England in the United States, they were not able to replicate their success, though they never really seemed to try.
If you excuse the pun, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony was easily the most melodic of the big name rap stars of the Mid-90s, which allowed the Gangsta Rap influenced group to combine that with pop sensibilities. The result was number one albums and a rewriting of what deep Hip Hop could sound like. This allowed this group to be a unique combination of kicking ass while thoughtfully taking names. Their induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame depends on how their always changing legacy is seen.
