Appearing multiple times over a two year stretch on Saturday Night Live Gemini’s Twin was a humorous play off then popular act, Destiny’s Child. Played by two of the funniest females in SNL history (Ana Gasteyer and Maya Rudolph), most of their sketches showcased their “third member” who seemed to differ depending on who the guest host was. Considering the lineup and that it lasted two years, this isn’t a bad SNL candidate, though we admit there are stronger choices from the show. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: Gemini’s Twin (2000-02) Actors: Ana Gasteyer (Joanette) Maya Rudolph (Brittanica) People who have played the “third member” Charlize Theron Lucy Liu Jennifer Lopez Beyonce Knowles Gwyneth Paltrow Britney Spears Songs you might remember: Planet of Mens Why you should vote for them: Gasteyer (who should have become a bigger star) and Rudolph were great, and Maya really has a set of pipes on her. Why you should not vote for them: They had a seven sketch run, but was this really a breakout act? {youtube}

We almost completely forgot that Captain Janeway was on Dallas as a dolled up Patsy Cline type who was engaged to Ray Krebs. Well, she was engaged to him until she slept with J.R. Ewing, who always had a way with the ladies. Must be the cowboy hat.

In a 1994 episode of the Simpsons, young Lisa Simpson develops a crisis of confidence when a new kid in school seems to be able to one up her in everything. In a brief dream sequence she imagines herself in concert with other famous second bananas, Art Garfunkel, Jim Messina and John Oates and asking why they came just to boo. Yeah, we know it was brief, but it made us laugh so here it is on the ballot. The Bullet Points: TV Show Appeared: The Simpsons (1994) Actors: Yeardley Smith Songs you might remember: None Why you should vote for them: John Oates needs a break. Why you should not vote for them: Not only did they not perform, they got booed.

In the atrocious film, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, Aerosmith was cast as the bad guys in the film. It does not matter what their mantra was, or what their role was, as they were fortunate enough to avoid the shrapnel of this schlock. Incidentally, KISS was originally asked to play this band, but starred in their own film, “KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park”, which actually was even a worse choice than this. Still, this is Aerosmith, and we don’t have a lot of actual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees on the ballot. Is that worth something here? The Bullet Points: Movie Appeared: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (1978) Actors: Aerosmith Songs you might remember: Come Together Why you should vote for them: Aerosmith are Rock and Roll icons. Why you should not vote for them: This movie was crap. {youtube}
