George Washington Duke

George Washington Duke
In Rocky V, we are introduced to the first boxing promoter in the series in George Washington Duke, who with out the loud hair was basically a rip off of Don King. Duke manipulated the young and naïve protégé of Rocky Balboa, Tommy Gunn, and as such became the real de facto villain in the film, and fans (although they may have agreed it was by far the weakest film of the series) cheered louder when Duke got knocked out as opposed to Gunn.

George Dryer

You have to hand it to Gerard Butler, as even in a Romantic Comedy he can make at least palatable to the men who are forced to watch them. In “Playing for Keeps” Butler portrays George Dryer, a former Scottish League Soccer player, still living in his past glory with the hopes of becoming s sportscaster for ESPN. Although this is really about relationships, there are enough sports references to keep us interested, though we don’t think that even the alpha male from 300 is enough to generate an induction.

The Bullet Points:
Movie Appeared:
Playing for Keeps (2012)

Actor:
Gerard Butler

Role Portrayed:
Former Scottish League Soccer Player/Youth Soccer Coach/Sportscaster

Why You Should Vote For Him:
It may be a chick-flick, but Butler transcends that and is likable to all.

Why You Should Not Vote For Him:
This really isn’t a sports film.

Frank Drebin

We know that this was a stretch but was there a funnier scene involving a Baseball Umpire than when Detective Frank Drebin (Leslie Nielsen). There isn’t, though whether that deserves an induction is up to all of you!

Let’s make sure we have this correct. There is a nominee on this ballot that has Christopher Walken as a Chinese criminal boss with Table Tennis relations?   Come on, how do you not vote for this?
