Doby was entrenched as the starting Centerfielder in 1948, where he batted .301 and helped the Indians win the World Series. It was a good start that got better as Doby rattled off seven straight All-Star Games, and in every one of those years, he blasted at least 20 Home Runs. In two of those seasons, Doby won the Home Run crown, both of which with 32 taters. Doby was also a patient hitter, leading the AL in OBP (.442) and OPS (.986) in 1950 and Slugging (.541) in 1952.
After the 1955 season, he was traded to the White Sox but returned for one year in 1958 before Doby was on the move again. As an Indian, Doby batted .286 with 215 Home Runs.
Doby was elected to the Indians Hall of Fame in 1964 and the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee in 1998. His number 14 was also retired by Cleveland in 1994.
