Vander Meer would have an up-and-down career in baseball but as impressive as those back-to-back no-no’s were, it pales to three consecutive seasons where he led the NL in Strikeouts and K/9 (1941-43). The four-time All-Star was also a member of the Reds 1940 World Series Championship Team. With Cincinnati, Vander Meer had an even record of 116-116 with 1,251 Strikeouts. In 1958, Vander Meer was one of five players ro be a part of the inaugural Reds Hall of Fame Class.
