  • Jerry Reinsdorf is not the most liked owner in sports, and his alleged frugality has not earned him fans among those who follow his teams. Despite those facts, he has brought championships in the two big-four teams he owns, the Chicago Bulls and Chicago White Sox.

Reinsdorf procured the Bulls in 1985, which on the back of Michael Jordan was built into an empire, winning six NBA titles in the 1990s. He had previously bought the White Sox in 1981, finally winning a World Series in 2005, making him one of the few owners to have championships in more than one major North American sports league.

Although Reinsdorf is one of the most successful owners in the NBA with six rings, he is off-criticized for the belief that he prematurely broke up a team that could have won more. Inversely, it can also be stated that keeping a collection of talent that long wasn’t easy.

The Bulls and the White Sox are undoubtedly in much better shape than we obtained them. He was and is one of the most powerful owners in sports.

We are proud to nominate Jerry Reinsdorf for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
