  • Tom Osborne became an assistant at Nebraska in 1964, moving up to offensive coordinator in 1969. Four years after, he replaced Bob Devaney, who stepped down to focus on his role as athletic director. Not that anyone was worried when Osborne was promoted, but if they were, needn't have been.

Osborne's Cornhuskers teams were never subpar. That statement was not an exaggeration, as, under Osborne, Nebraska never had a season where they did not win nine games, participate in a bowl game and finish the season ranked, and all of that was over 25 years!

Osborne took Nebraska to three National Championships and nine conference titles.

We are proud to nominate Tom Osborne for the United States Athletic Hall of Fame.
