Flanagan debuted for Baltimore in 1975, and he would play there until he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in August of 1987. In terms of advanced metrics, Flanagan was not considered excellent, and he would never be in the top ten in bWAR for Pitchers. In fact, he was only in the top ten in ERA and WHIP once, and that year was 1979 when he won 20 Games and won the American League Cy Young Award. Flanagan still picked up the "W" in a lot of games, and he was a large component of the Orioles 1983 World Series Championship Team.
In 1994, Flanagan was the sole entry to the Orioles Hall of Fame.
